Recordings

Girton College Chapel Choir recorded its first CD, All in a Garden Green, in 1995. A second CD of largely secular music, entitled Cantique, was released in May 1998, and a further recording, in which members of the choir are accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, was brought out in 1999. In the summer of 2000 the choir recorded O Porta Caeli, a highly praised CD of Italian Baroque music accompanied by period instruments. The Ages of Elizabeth, the choir's recording of Elizabethan music from sixteenth, twentieth and twenty-first centuries is now available, as well as a CD of selections from the New English Hymnal recorded in 2004 for Priory Records. The choir's most recent recording, made in July 2005, incorporates a wide range of Christmas music ranging from the German Baroque (accompanied by members of the Gabrieli Players on period instruments) to music of twentieth-century composers, such as Howells. Girton College Chapel Choir has also recorded on several occasions for the BBC and for radio and television stations overseas. The latter include Radio Thailand, Malaysian Television and, most recently, a broadcast of Choral Matins as well as a secular programme for RTHK in Hong Kong.
